Are you feeling stressed about managing your expenses? Would you like to learn how to grow your assets and start investing?Personal Finance is at the center of all your activities.

Whether it is planning a vacation, buying groceries or planning to move cities for a new job offer, money is always a factor that we need to consider. If you know how to manage your money well, this can give you a lot of freedom with the choices that you make. For example, treating yourself to more expensive dinners with your friends or planning a big vacation because you were able to stash more money away in your savings. 

Here's what you will cover in this course

In this personal finance course, you will further explore how to manage your budget, how your income and expenses change over the different phases of your life and how you can start investing to prepare you for a comfortable future. Each class is designed to build upon the previous sessions, guiding participants through a journey from foundational financial attitudes to practical investment strategies, with the ultimate goal of fostering financial literacy and empowerment.

Week 1: Mental Attitude

This session explores the foundational attitudes towards money. You will delve into common biases affecting financial decisions and identify and understand your biases. You will discover the "money script" concept and you will be encouraged to reflect critically on common negative beliefs around money.

Week 2: Budgeting, Optimising Expenses & Income

Key part of your financial literacy is sorting out your budget and optimise your resources. You will learn different budgeting techniques and methods, and strategies from saving money or increasing your income.

Week 3: Asset vs Liability

You will examine the concepts of assets and liabilities. You will get introduced to asset classes and the importance of diversification in investment, along with an in-depth look at financial products, including inflation's impact on investments. 

Week 4: Investing Basics

This session will cover the basics of investing, the rational behind it, the differences between passive and active investing, and the pitfalls to avoid in the investment world. You will simulate broker transactions, and create basic investment portfolios.

Week 5: Frameworks for Long-term Financial Goals

You might have heard about the FIRE movement? We will critically discuss it and start focusing on your long-term financial goals and planning. You will understand the factors to consider when investing in the stock and bond markets, including portfolio structuring for long-term objectives.

Week 6: Your Long-term Plan

You will test your knowledge across all topics covered in the course, revisit your financial goals and budgets, and evaluate the realism of your plan. This session will also cover tax regulations. At the end, you will develop a personal action plan for the future.

Moritz, now in his third year of International Business and Economics, developed an interest in finance at 15 during a year abroad in the U.S., where he managed his own finances. By 17, he made his first investments and has since deepened his knowledge through books like "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" and "Think and Grow Rich," along with countless personal finance videos.

He meticulously tracks his income, expenses, and investments, enabling a stress-free university life. Moritz aims to share his insights on long-term, low-risk investing, offering practical guidance for achieving financial stability and success.
